How to incorporate indigenous and local knowledge in forest education, back to the roots

What?

The Global Assessment of Forest Education 2022 highlighted the need to include more information about ecological, cultural, and social values, traditional knowledge, and rights of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities in forest programs. Consequently, it is time to revise forest programs and reflect on how future forest professionals and incoming forest students would be able to understand the diverse ways in which people related to the forest; so that the contributions of trees and forests to local people can be systematically shared, supporting informed decision and policy-making.
