SUMMARY:Harnessing the power of youth for enhanced climate action in the lead up to COP 26
DESCRIPTION:IFSA in collaboration with FAO and other Pre-COP partners is organizing the event on 1st October\,  2021. We are counting down the days to our joint pre-COP26 event on “Harnessing the power of youth for enhanced climate action in the lead up to COP26” and counting on you to help us promote the event!  \nThe roundtable will gather youth groups\, influencers\, companies\, academic institutions\, non-profits\, governments\, and the public to drive awareness\, foster engagement\, and advocate for agri-food systems transformation to reach climate change resilience through intergenerational collaboration and youth-led action. The interactive format aims at boosting climate action through audience engagement\, presentations and promotion of proposals/pilot projects and success stories. \nThis roundtable will provide a stage for some of the most innovative brains behind the solutions we can identify to address the climate-food systems poverty nexus. The event highlights the need for intergenerational collaboration between different stakeholders while presenting synergies and linkages between climate mitigation and adaptation\, poverty reduction and food security. The roundtable will provide recommendations and transformative solutions to make significant contributions towards achieving both the SDGs and the objectives of the Paris Agreement. \nThis event will provide a platform for solutions to some of today’s most urgent global challenges: Even though  we produce enough food to feed everyone in the world\, nearly 700 million  people go hungry. A number that is constantly growing in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is an interactive webinar which talks about the different opportunities that the International Forestry Students Association (IFSA) has to offer. It aims to connect forestry students all over the Philippines\, build new relations\, and discover forestry opportunities beyond borders.\n\nOur notable speakers are Cecil Konijnendijk Van-den Bosch\, Marsia Belikova\, Luisa Gragnaniello\, and Jan Joseph Dida!\n\nCecil Konijnendijk\, a Dutch national\, is the former IFSA President from 1993 to 1995. His research and activities on development\, education\, advisory\, and dissemination focuses on the important role of woodland\, trees\, and other green space in urban settings and societies. A true leader ready to share his goals\, inspirations\, and experiences in IFSA.\n\nAs the current IFSA Forestry Education Sub-commission Head\, Marsia Belikova from Greece is more than willing to share the different educational and scholarship opportunities in IFSA. Through these opportunities\, Marsia will also share with us how it assists the growing student mobility in raising awareness of global forest initiatives\, as well as present countries specializing in different forestry areas.\n\nLuisa Gragnaniello is the former IFSA Cultural Competencies Sub-commission Head in 2019. Through the development of training programs and learning materials on cultural awareness and ethics for IFSA activities\, she continues to inspire a new IFSA community towards diversity and intercultural understanding.\n\nCurrently a consulting member of IFSA\, Jan Joseph Dida is also IFSA’s former Head Membership Counselor (2016-2017) and Vice President (2017-2018). DESCRIPTION:Another edition of the Nigerian Forestry Students and Graduates Roundtable is here again. \nPlease join us as we shall be hosting Dr. Fola Babalola on Saturday 24th April by 3:00 pm WAT \nDr. Fola Babalola is an Associate Professor with a specialization in forest socio-economics. He is a consultant to FAO\, a visiting researcher at the University of Pretoria\, South Africa\, and the Founder of Save Sahara Network. \nHe has received various funding opportunities ranging from competitive research grants to fellowships\, scholarships\, and travel sponsorships for more than two decades of his career. His Bachelor’s\, Masters and Doctoral projects were funded by ANAFE\, AFORNET\, and IFS. \nHe has received competitive grants from ITTO\, Rufford\, British Ecological Society\, National Geographic\, NRF South Africa\, TETFUND Nigeria\, UNDP GEF-SGP Nigeria\, among others. \nHe will be giving practical tips on how to access funding opportunities for forestry and related projects. \nPlease join us.
