23rd Session of the African Forestry and Wildlife Commission

The role of forests and wildlife in building resilience and recovery from crises and threats 

Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, 22 to 26 August 2022 

At the kind invitation of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Twenty Third Session of the African Forestry and Wildlife Commission (AFWC23) will be held in Kinshasa from 22 to 26 August 2022. The Seventh African Forestry and Wildlife Week (AFWW7) will be simultaneously organized in parallel to the AFWC23. Both events will organized in an hybrid format (in person and virtual).

 The theme observed for the 23rd session of the Commission is The role of forests and wildlife in building resilience and recovery from crises and threats.  This theme is intended to showcase Africa’s forest, wildlife and trees which yields a vast range of products and ecosystem services useful both for local communities and at a global scale – could play a key role in accelerating a transformation towards resilient societies that simultaneously conserve nature, better provide for human well-being, and generate income and adapt to shocks, particularly for rural people.
