Job Talks
Job Talks is a YouTube series where we interview IFSA Alumni and forestry professionals about their career journey. Starting from when they first learned about forestry as a profession all the way to the experiences that led them to where they are today. Their different backgrounds and specializations prove that forestry is a passion that unites people across borders. With these short interviews, aspiring young foresters can learn that there is more to forestry than meets the eye and that countless opportunities await them.
This project is done in collaboration with IUFRO and EFI as part of the “Green Jobs” project. Join us as we listen to their inspiring stories on how they managed to get where they are today and learn what exactly it means for these professionals to be “foresters”.
Our forests are slowly being replaced by concrete jungles. Today, 45% of humans on earth live in urban areas and by the year 2025, it will increase to a whopping 65% (FAO, n.d). This is paving the way for urban forestry.
But what is urban forestry? It is an integrated, city-wide approach to the planting, care, and management of trees in the city to secure multiple environmental and social benefits for urban dwellers. (Miller, n.d)
We interviewed one of the renowned urban foresters in the world to share with us everything you need to know about working in the urban forestry sector and how IFSA can help you in your journey.
