34th Forestry Versatility 2023

1. What is ‘Forestry Versatility’?

Forestry Versatility is an annual competition between teams from LCs from both Europe regions with a long tradition of over 30 years. We’re returning with the 34th year of the competition after a 3-year pause due to covid. It is a unique opportunity to deepen your knowledge of forestry topics, make friends in the IFSA Family, and learn about different cultures.

2. Date and Location

Date: 2nd-7th of April (with arrival possible even on the 1st of April)
Location: Brno, Czech Republic

3. Schedule

Arrival: We would like to welcome you to our university city on the 2nd of April. However, after individual consultation, arrival is also possible on the 1st of April.
2nd of April: Registration will be held only on the 2nd of April(in person). So please make sure that you are here before midnight.
3rd of April: Opening ceremony in our university campus and first discipline will follow. Cutting with a chainsaw (horizontally, vertically, branching), cutting with an axe, cutting with a two-man saw, dissection assembly of chainsaw, and a harvesting simulator. In the evening there will be some cultural activities.
4th of April: Second discipline – orienteering with identifying natural objects (skull, dung, stones, leaves) in our university forest. Evening cultural activities.
5th of April: Last discipline on the shooting range. International evening.
6th of April: Closing ceremony in our university castle with lunch and results announcement.
Departure: It is possible in the afternoon of the 6th of April after the results announcement and, of course, on the 7th of April.

4. Participation cost

The participation fee is 150 € per person. That includes accommodation, food, and drinks from Sunday dinner (2nd of April) till Friday breakfast (7th of April), transportation to different locations during this event, free beer (while supplies last), a T-shirt, and a program full of joy and excitement! The fee needs to be paid in cash upon registration.
There is no need to bring anything such as your chainsaw, gun, or protective clothes; everything will be provided by Brno LC. A shooting license is also not needed.

5. Application procedure

You must apply as a four-member team. At least one woman is required to be part of the team. Only one team per LC is allowed.
The deadline for the applications is the 28th of February.
