Would you like to present your thesis/study work to an international professional audience, be part of a delegation of IFSA students from around the world, or volunteer in the organizing team at an international forestry conference? Then this opportunity may interest you!

IFSA will engage at the 20th Commonwealth Forestry Conference from August 16th – 18th 2021 in different functions and has been offered to “send” a large digital delegation. The opportunities of engagement for participants are manifold and include the possibilities to pitch or present your study work (you might even win a cash prize!), lead diverse informal sessions, such as on cultural exchange (baking/cooking/dances), office movement or support to design creative silent breaks in which you could share pictures of your favorite forest or nature spots.

Even though the conference is a Commonwealth institution, of course, also IFSA members from outside of Commonwealth countries are welcome and encouraged to join and engage.

There will be two different options to present the study work. One will be in a quick-pitch format for students/by students, called 3-Minute-Thesis (3MT) challenge or, which entices with the opportunity to win one of three cash prizes. The second option will be “general” student presentations in the form of a pre-recorded 10-minute video presentation and 5 minutes live Q&A. There will also be an opportunity to present a poster of the work. For both opportunities, submissions of abstracts will go through the general conference website (https://cfc2021.ubc.ca/submissions/) and the deadline is May 15th.

IFSA will also post a separate open call for the general conference delegation for which a different deadline will be applicable.
