Delegation Open Call to UNFF Special Events

UNFF Special Event to celebrate the International Day of Forests

Thematic focus: Forests and Health

Date: Tuesday 21st March 2023, from 10:00 to 13:00 EST

Location: CR 6, UN Headquarters, New York, USA

Event description

This year’s event will showcase how forests sustain all aspects of our health, from cleaning our air and water to providing us with essential food, fuel, medicines, and income.

The 2023 theme is particularly relevant in these times of crisis as we seek a path to recovery through integrated action. Sustainable management of forests supports the livelihood and well-being of our most vulnerable populations, mitigates climate change, safeguards biodiversity, and reduces the risk of future pandemics. It is also a contribution to the implementation of the UN Strategic Plan for Forests and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and supports the Decade of Action for the SDGs and the Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.

IFSA is delighted to welcome applications from highly motivated students to join its delegation to the event. There will further be an opportunity to participate as a youth speaker during the panel session, and interested persons can fill out an additional question on this. Please note that there will be no funding available for travel and accommodation. Thus IFSA will not support any expenses, either before or after the event, and participants will fully support their own costs.
