The next UN climate change conference, COP28, offers a critical chance to refocus efforts and intensify steps to solve the climate issue in light of the world’s high temperatures and the broad effects of extreme weather events. At COP28, nations will evaluate the steps taken under the 2015 Paris Agreement, a critical climate agreement, and plan methods to drastically cut emissions while protecting lives and livelihoods.

The scientific community is almost unanimous in its conclusion that, by 2030, the world’s renewable power capacity—which includes geothermal, hydro, solar, and wind energy—must triple while the production of coal, oil, and gas must drastically drop. Financing for adaptation and investments in climate resilience must be significantly increased simultaneously.

COP28 serves as a platform for leaders from governments, businesses, NGOs, and civil society to collaborate on tangible solutions for the paramount challenge of our era.
