Accelerating forest solutions through innovation is the theme of the 27th Session of the Committee on Forestry (COFO 27) and the 9th World Forest Week (WFW 2024) which will be held on 22-26 July 2024 at FAO Headquarters, Rome, Italy, in a hybrid format. 

The biennial sessions of COFO bring together high-level representatives, heads of forest services, government officials and partner organizations to identify emerging policy and technical guidance, seek solutions, and advise on future strategy and action.

 WFW 2024 will provide the forest community with a unique opportunity to exchange, connect, showcase best practices, and contribute to international debates on forestry and environmental issues. It will feature a series of inspiring events and exhibitions that bring together FAO Members, partner organizations – including members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests – and youth to discuss a broad range of topics related to FAO’s mandate during COFO 27.
What to expect
  Release of FAO’s flagship publication The State of the World’s Forests 2024: Forest-sector innovations towards a more sustainable future.
  Presentation of the FAO Forestry Roadmap – From Vision to Action 2024-2031.
  Discussions on agriculture and forestry linkages, scaling up agroforestry, bioeconomy, climate change, ecosystem restoration, urban forestry and integrated fire management.
  High-level dialogues on Forestry-based Innovations and Scaling up Agroforestry.
  Ceremony announcing the winner of the Wangari Maathai Forest Champions Award 2024 from the Collaborative Partnership on Forests.
     A Green Cities Initiative high-level event.
