IFSS 2025 Indonesia Report
Executive Summary
IFSS 2025 Indonesia was held for 15 days from August 16 to 30 , 2025, with the grand theme, “Green Heroes: Achieving Net Zero Emission for Sustainable Forestry. This event was organised by 4 Local Committees consisting of IFSA LC IPB, IFSA LC UGM, IFSA LC UNHAS, and IFSA LC ULM with a total of 30 committee members and volunteers. Our journey together with 76 delegates from 23 countries has delved deeper into 3 main sub- themes divided into Social Forestry, Forestry Multi- business, and Technology for Forestry. This event certainly cannot be fully held without the loyal support from various partners both domestically and internationally amidst the government, private
sector, research institutions, universities, and state-owned enterprises. The Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia and all parties have demonstrated their full support for IFSS 2025 as aforum for young people, the next generation of the nation’s legacy of young at heart, to contribute to preserving Indonesia’s forests. International support has also been received from the Eva Mayr- Stihl Stiftung Foundation, which also has the concrete objective for science and research. It is reflected through the funding priorities of IFSS 2025 Indonesia as a sustainable milestone to design, manage, and protect forests.
Set out from the sub-theme that we initiated, it was then implemented in each city that is part of the IFSA LC region as well as the host university. Our scientific exploration began in Bogor, continued to Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Maros, then finally ended in Makassar. To broaden the scope of discussion, we held a scientific meeting in the form of a National Symposium to convey views logically and interactively.
The National Symposium, which was first held in Jakarta, contained several interactive sessions, namely panel discussion sessions, chamber discussions, and abstract presentations. Moving forward, in elaborating on the sub-themes discussed in the National Symposium, IFSS 2025 accommodated participants and the public to learn together and exchange knowledge directly with relevant experts in each related region. Therefore, IFSS 2025 also includes Regional Symposiums in Yogyakarta and Makassar as a platform for the respective host universities to network with each other through talk shows and exhibitions with the following interesting themes as follow:
