1. Tasks

Writing concept notes for Language projects.
Creating promotional materials for Language projects
Contacting related LCs and parties in the preparation of Language School
Helping HoSC in the preparation of Language projects
Assisting with HoSC tasks

The time needed for the position will vary throughout the years. The time required for the working hours will be around 2-5 hours per week.

2. Additional Information

In this new presidency, Language SC would like to bring IFSA members on another journey worldwide by providing the platform through two main programs of Language SC: (1) Language School; (2) Language – Exchange.

Language School is a program introduced by the Language Sub-commission under IFSA to open opportunities to address the language barrier problem. IFSA has always been a platform for intercultural exchange. With events in the past, such as the Cultural Nights. IFSA paved the way for connecting, empowering, and educating different forestry students from different cultural backgrounds.

Language Exchange is the 0.2 version of LANGUAGE TIME and will be held once in this presidency. In this 1–2-hour informal webinar, one or two main speakers will share their Exchange Experience (studying/living/working abroad) and include the English proficiency test they use (IELTS/TOEFL/TOEIC/PTE/EPT/etc.). After the speakers’ sharing session, it will be followed by participants sharing session and other fun activities

3. Application procedure

You must send an email with the subject: “Application for Language Commissioner Position_Name” to language@ifsa.net.

After sending an email, the Head of the Language Sub-Commission will give further information regarding the application. Please prepare the following document:

A verification from the IFSA website, verifying that you are a member of an LC OR a verification letter from your Local Committee (LC) signed by the President of your LC.

If you are the President of your LC, ask the Vice President to sign it. Here you can find a template for the verification letter.

4. Requirements

In order to apply for Commissioner, you MUST comply with these requirements:

You need to be a member of an IFSA Local Committee and either be an active student or have graduated no longer than one year ago.
Proficiency in English, as it is the language that will be used in writing proposals and concept notes, as well as communication.
Good internet connection: Given that all the work as an Official is done remotely, a good internet connection is crucial to accomplish your tasks effectively.
