Global Sight 2.0 by IFSA LC UGM

The Global Sight (G-Sight) 2.0 is a series of projects organized by each commission in IFSA LC UGM focused on raising public awareness regarding wildlife conservation with the theme “Conservation: Efforts to Preserve Our Wildlife Sustainability”. The series of events, which included campaign, competition, workshops, fundraising, talk show, and declaration, aimed to educate and inform the public about the critical importance of preserving wildlife sustainability.

DRACCO (Design Training and Campaign Organizing) is a campaign poster design competition focusing on wildlife conservation. Organized by Media and Communication Commission, it offers online video tutorials on poster design via IFSA LC UGM’s Instagram. The competition runs from October 1 to October 27, 2023, with participants creating and sharing their posters on Instagram, tagging IFSA LC UGM. The aim is to raise awareness for wildlife conservation through engaging visual campaigns.

IFSA-Tionary, organized by the Language Commission, focuses on English language education. Specifically, IFSA-Tionary aims to deliver engaging content through IFSA LC UGM’s social media. This time, it’s structured as a poetry writing competition requiring a minimum of 3 lines, addressing the theme “Wildlife Conservation” and the sub-theme “What can we do to protect our forest?” Participants can submit their poems online from October 1 to October 27, 2023, via their Instagram accounts, collaborating by tagging IFSA LC UGM.

Workshop #2 “GIS Get-Go: Wildlife Distribution Mapping,” is a project by the Human Resource and Development Commission held on October 15, 2023. Workshop #2 aims to equip participants with a fundamental understanding of using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for mapping animal distribution. Through practical activities, it will provide attendees with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively gather, analyze, and visualize animal distribution data using GIS tools.

The Gaze of G-Sight 2.0 offers a diverse range of activities: announcing competition and campaign winners, sharing charity result reports, performances, icebreaking, talk shows, and policy brief declarations. On this occasion, the fundraising outcome was given to help the effort of a wildlife conservation organization. This financial support was intended to support these organizations in their work toward wildlife rehabilitation. The talk show featured three expert speakers facilitated by the Forestry Education Commission. The discussions aim to highlight the significance of conservation efforts and ways individuals and communities can contribute to our wildlife conservation. Followed by the exclusive session to engage in a hybrid Focus Group Discussion with international students and NGO. At the conclusion, IFSA LC UGM delivered a policy brief, underlining their commitment to wildlife conservation.
