About NERM 2020 in Eberswalde (GER)

This year, the NERM is hosted and organized by the IFSA Local Committee of the University for Sustainable Development in Eberswalde. Eberswalde is a city of 40.000 inhabitants in Brandenburg – a federal state in the north-east of Germany.

Our Local Committee Eberswalde, consisting of approximately 20 members, was reestablished in 2017 and since then, we are very active on a local and international scale. We are organising a Lecture Series, workshops, festivities at our university and networking visits to other LCs and recently started to produce our own Podcast Series. Furthermore, we have the possibility to join interesting meetings and conferences (e.g. FAO, Global Landscape Forum, Convention on Biological Diversity). The NERM 2020 will be the biggest event that we’ve organised so far and we are incredibly excited to host you here in Eberswalde!

The university focuses on sustainble manners and has been honoured as the “greenest” university in Germany (2009) for its efforts and has received the European EMAS Award for its exemplary environmental management (2010). Since 2014, Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development is the first climate-neutral university in Germany. The university provides 8 bachelor and 10 master study programs in the faculties of Forest & Environment, Landscape Management & Nature Conservation, Wood Engineering and Sustainable Business.

During the event we will get in touch with different approaches of forestry around Eberswalde, discover forests and a biosphere reserve, visit the nearby German capital Berlin and much more…
