Our University & Faculty
The Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU) is one of the leading European institutions in the field of life sciences. CZU is the most sustainable university in the Czech Republic and also is one of the largest universities in this country. It has 6 faculties, 1 institute, and together about 18,000 students. CZU operates a forestry centre, with teaching facilities and accomodation in a renaissance chateau from the 17th century. The forestry centre manages 7,000 ha of forests and 2,500 ha of fish ponds. CZU also operates a campus botanical garden, an equestrian centre, a large farm, and a vinicultural centre.
The Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences (FFWS) is a respected international research centre. Students at FFWS learn both theory and practice to be well-prepared for future challenges in forestry, wood processing industry and research. FFWS offers students a three-level education. In 2019, the Faculty completed the educational and technology centre, which is one of the best university centres in Central Europe thanks to the most modern technologies and equipment. The faculty also manages the Arboretum focused on relevant taxons of the temperate and boreal zones of the northern hemisphere. The Arboretum serves not only students, but also scientists, dendrologists, and the general public.
The Organizing Committee
IFSA LC Prague was re-established in 2014 in order to support foreign relations within IFSA. Our goal is to represent our faculty at external forest conferences, and if possible to arrange events like this in Czech Republic, as well. Additionally, we host balls, professional forestry lectures, show movies, organise meetings with the dean of the faculty, and with all these activities, we support cultural life at our faculty. Of course, we are not limited to this as we can do as much as the initiative and quality of our collective allows.
