IFSS Romania Registration now open!
First Round Registration 25th of April to 2nd of May
We’re excited to inform you that the highly-anticipated first round of IFSS 2024 Romania Registrations are starting today. 🎉
The International Forestry Students’ Symposium (IFSS) is the biggest annual IFSA meeting. It’s a platform of knowledge transfer and inspiration that enables the students to experience various forestry practices, exchange their experiences and connect internationally.
In a nutshell, the IFSS is a 14-days event with over 100 forestry students participating. Coordination is being done by the Organizing Committee and run by volunteers.
Romania is hosting the 52nd IFSS from 19th of August to 1st of September 2024, the first IFSS in the country’s history, providing participants from all over the globe with the opportunity to learn about our country and its forests.
The focus will be on presenting the Forestry history of our country, as well as the modern-day challenges. Most importantly, we will introduce you to the romanian wildlife and the impact of the large carnivores which, magnificent as they are, can potentially pose a danger to farmers and humans.
In the those two weeks you will be sticking around with us, we plan to roam the most important places in Romania: you will visit the notorious Danube Delta, well-known as a unique biodiversity hotspot of Romania & Europe; you will see the desert of Oltenia, one of the 6 located on european grounds, and hike the imposing Transylvanian Alps; you will ride the rafts at Bistrița, that Romanians used over 100 years ago to transport wood and cereals…the full picture of endless wilderness! 🏞️

📩 About the registrations:
The first registration period is between 25th of April and 2nd of Mary
This is the first registration round for the event and there will be a second registration round.
We encourage everyone to apply. Even if you haven’t been assigned to the priority list by your LC.
We request from all of the IFSA Local Committees representatives to submit their participant priority list until 2nd of May. Only the responses submitted by the official LC email address (lcname@lc.ifsa.net) will be accepted.
We remind you that at least one representative from each LC (elected internally) will be selected.
Board members have a secured spot and members holding official positions will have priority on future spot distribution.
More than one member of the same LC could be accepted if vacancies are still available after the previous conditions have been completed.
💰 Registration Fees:
Low-income countries: 50 Euros
Middle-income countries: 250 Euros
High-income countries: 450 Euros

* The participation fee is defined by the country you study in. If you struggle to get funding for the participation fee, please feel free to reach out to us. (communication.ifss2024@ifsa.net)
🏦 Development Fund:
The Development Fund is a part of the IFSA budget that is used to support IFSA members to engage with IFSA Activities.
As part of IFSS, our Task Force will work with IFSA in order to provide additional support to a few members for attending IFSS 2024 in Romania!
Please note that, for this upcoming Open Call, only non-European members will be eligible to apply!

Visa Guidelines is a document specifically prepared by IFSS 2024 Romania Organising Committee Visa Task Force for the participants with visa requirements.
The visa guidelines are meant to serve as an initial guide to your visa application process.
If you have any further questions, we recommend that you contact the Romanian embassy or consulate where you will be applying, as they are experts when it comes to the application process for your particular country.
