Open Call for Delegates: UN Forum on Forests (UNFF 19)

The 19th session of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF 19) is scheduled to convene from May 6th to 10th 2024 at the UN Headquarters in New York, USA. This session will continue the thematic priorities established in UNFF 18, focusing on several key objectives. These objectives include enhancing the economic, social, and environmental benefits derived from forests, as well as expanding the global area of protected forests and sustainably managed forest lands. Additionally, efforts will be directed towards mobilizing financial resources, fostering scientific and technical cooperation, and promoting governance frameworks conducive to sustainable forest management (SFM). This entails a concerted push to bolster implementation mechanisms, while fostering greater cooperation, coordination, and coherence among stakeholders involved in SFM initiatives.

Representing the Major Group Children and Youth, IFSA will actively participate in this event. Under the coordination of Binsar Sihotang, the current Global Focal Point for MGCY at this forum, delegates will engage in various activities. These include attending sessions covering diverse agendas and topics, interacting with major groups and CPF members, holding meetings with member states, potentially organizing side events, participating in a UN office tour, and more.

It is essential for each delegate to secure their own funding, as there will be no financial support provided for this delegation. Delegates will be prioritised based on their motivation and relevant skills that they can contribute to the meeting (such as writing skills, social media expertise, etc.), as well as their ability to attend (availability of funding, flight tickets, and visa).

This application will remain open until Sunday, March 31st, 2024.
