UNECE Trees in Cities Challenge
IFSA will start a collaboration to support the work of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) regarding the implementation of the “Trees in Cities Challenge” initiative.
The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and the International Forestry Students Association are collaborating to engage cities and towns to assess how they can plan and enhance their urban tree and forest cover.
As part of this collaboration, IFSA members are invited to engage cities and municipalities to complete the UNECE Trees for Resilient Green Cities: Strategic Screening and Action Toolkit. UNECE will also organize outreach, capacity building and peer exchange events for IFSA members and city representatives.
All IFSA Members are invited to participate in the Trees in Cities Challenge to understand more about this initiative and engage at a local level. At this session, the participants will be able to review the toolkit and learn from working examples. Participants will also get the chance to learn more about Urban Forestry and Political Advocacy at the local level; mix between Capacity Building and Interactive sessions; learn about the experience and opportunities of being part of this initiative; and get involved in the assessment and development of Urban Forestry.
Speakers at the session include Cecil Konijnendijk, Daniel Griswold, Agustin Rosello, and representatives from UNECE.
Join us on the 3rd of August at 14:00 UTC+0 via Zoom. You may register via: https://bit.ly/IFSAUNECEChallenge.
See you there!
