XV World Forestry Congress 2022 free online participation
The XV World Forestry Congress takes place in the Republic of Korea from the 2nd to the 6th of May. IFSA is sending a delegation to participate in the event in person, but as most of the side-events also take place virtually, we want to encourage all IFSA members to join online for free! The Congress is organized only approximately every six years, so this online participation offers a rare opportunity to participate in one of the biggest events in the forestry sector for free
What is WFC?
The World Forestry Congress is a forum for the exchange of views and experiences on all aspects of forests and forestry. WFC provides a periodical opportunity to produce an overview of the sector, in order to discern trends, adapt policies, create awareness in decision-makers, and influence public opinion. It is a valuable forum for strengthening the role of forests in general as well as in the context of critical environmental, economic and social issues and taking into account the developments in the global sustainable development agenda.
This year six sub-themes were chosen for the Congress and all events are connected to at least one of them. The sub-themes are the following:
- Turning the tide: reversing deforestation and forest degradation
- Nature-based solutions for climate change adaptation and biodiversity conservation
- The green pathway to growth and sustainability
- Forests and human health: revisiting the connections
- Managing and communicating forest information, data and knowledge
- Forests without boundaries: enhancing management and cooperation
