Open Call for IFSA Delegates at the 27th Session of the FAO Committee on Forestry (COFO 27)

The 27th Session of the FAO Committee on Forestry will take place in the FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy from the 22nd to the 26th July 2024. IFSA is going to send a delegation of selected individuals to the event to learn, gain experiences and raise the voice of the youth.  

What is COFO?

The Committee on Forestry is the highest FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) Forestry statutory body. The biennial sessions of COFO bring together heads of forest services and other senior government officials to identify emerging policy and technical issues, to seek solutions and to advise FAO and others on appropriate action. Other international organizations and, increasingly, non-governmental groups participate in COFO.

The 27th Session of the COFO (COFO 27) will be held in conjunction with the 9th World Forest Week (WFW 2024), which will be held under the theme “Accelerating Forest Solutions through Innovation”, and will feature a number of events sponsored by FAO Members and partners.

The Session is being convened under the provisions of Article V-6 of the FAO Constitution and is open to both Committee members and observers.

IFSA members will actively participate in this event, for example through attending sessions, interacting with participants and representatives from member organizations of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF), and potentially co-organising youth-focused events, among others.

Consequently, we are inviting applications to join our delegation for the event. It is essential for each delegate to secure their own funding, as there may be limited financial support provided for this delegation. Delegates will be prioritized based on their motivation and competencies that they can contribute to the event as well as their ability to attend.
