Call for Abstract Guideline
About
The International Forestry Students’ Symposium (IFSS) 2025 proudly invites students and public participants from around the world to take part in the Call for Abstracts, which will culminate in the Grand Symposium of IFSS 2025. This symposium provides a platform for individuals to share research, ideas, and initiatives that contribute to sustainable forestry and climate action, under the official theme:
“Green Heroes: Fostering Net Zero Emission for Sustainable Forestry.”
This call is open to undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students, as well as non-student participants, including professionals, researchers, activists, and members of civil society with a strong interest in forestry, biodiversity, and climate-related topics. It offers a valuable opportunity to engage in high-level academic and practical exchange, receive constructive feedback, and contribute to a global dialogue on sustainable forest management.
All abstracts submitted will undergo a rigorous review by the Abstract Scientific Committee, consisting of experts from academia, intergovernmental organizations (IGOs), and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working in forestry, climate, and sustainability. Selected participants will receive the following academic and professional recognition:
- Book of Abstract: The Top 50 abstracts will be compiled and published in the official IFSS 2025 Book of Abstracts.
- Oral Presentation: The Top 24 abstracts will be invited for oral presentation during the Grand Symposium, where participants will present their work before a live audience and expert panel.
Through this process, participants will not only build their academic and professional portfolio, but also connect with an international community of peers and practitioners committed to shaping a greener, more resilient future.
This is your moment to be part of a global movement and to be recognized as one of the Green Heroes of tomorrow!

Thematic Relevance
All submitted abstracts must align with the main theme of the symposium: “Green Heroes: Fostering Net Zero Emission for Sustainable Forestry”. This theme underscores the urgent role of youth in contributing to climate action, forest sustainability, and carbon neutrality through interdisciplinary and impactful efforts. Abstracts should directly address at least one of the official sub-themes of IFSS 2025:
-
Technology for Forestry: Focus on innovative technologies and digital tools that support sustainable forest management, climate monitoring, carbon tracking, and ecosystem restoration.
-
Social Forestry: Highlight inclusive forest governance, community-based forest management, indigenous knowledge systems, and social justice in forestry.
-
Forest Multi-Business: Explore sustainable forest-based economic models such as ecotourism, non-timber forest products (NTFPs), carbon offset initiatives, and green entrepreneurship.
Submissions are encouraged to demonstrate how their topic contributes to net zero emissions, youth engagement, and long-term forest resilience.
