IFSA Open Letter on Gender and Forest Education

We are looking for IFSA members who are interested in gender equality and would like to contribute to IFSA reaching out to forestry universities and faculties as well as policymakers all around the world.

Last year, IFSA contributed to the organisation of the Forests in Women’s Hands Conference 2021 and assembled a delegation of 29 forestry students and young professionals to take part both in the conference and additional activities organised by IFSA. One of the outcomes of the IFSA engagement at the FiWH conference was that we want to use our voice as youth and the next generation of forestry professionals and advocate for gender equality in forest education and a gender-aware learning environment. Strengthening the voice of a diversity of genders within forestry and especially forest education, is a core contribution to IFSA’s mission of enriching our members’ education.

We would love to capture several voices to make our open letter more powerful and would like to include your voice in the video publication of the IFSA open letter. In order to have a coherent and consistent message, you would be asked to:

  1. Take a video of you reciting parts of the open letter.
  2. Ensure good video quality.
  3. Ensure good sound quality.

If you want to be a part of the video, please fill the form by 31 May 2022 at https://forms.gle/rNMcQU9wLPgdcWHp7

In IFSA, we think advocating for gender equality is a common effort that takes the engagement of people with all genders and backgrounds. We therefore strongly encourage everyone to apply regardless of your gender or background.
