Bonn Climate Change Conference is connecting different Subsidiary Bodies of the UN and will tackle the future challenges regarding climate change. It will take place on 8th to the 18th of May. It contents the forty-sixth sessions of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI 46) and Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA 46) as well as the third part of the first session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Paris Agreement (APA 1-3). For the first week the following people will represent IFSA in Bonn: Jeffrey Qi Hello everyone! My name is Jeffrey Qi. I am an undergraduate student at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I am studying environmental conservation and political science. I am passionate about promoting youth engagement in environmental conservation and stewardship, as well as climate change actions. Grew up in Shanghai, China and has been studying in Canada since high school, I would like to bring a North American West Coast perspective on forest conservation and management, as well as disturbance mitigation unique to British Columbia. Steffen Dehn Hi everyone! I´m looking forward to being part of the delegation that will represent our IFSA community at the UN Climate Change Conference which will host the forty-sixth sessions of the UNFCCC subsidiary bodies in Bonn this May. My name is Steffen Dehn and I´m currently studying “International Forest Ecosystem Management, B.Sc.” at the University for Sustainable Development in Eberswalde, Germany. Apart from interesting events like the Technical Expert Meeting on Mitigation (TEM-M), which I´m eager to attend, the conference will host many events that will deal with how the implementation of the Paris agreement can be accelerated. While it´s great to have the Paris agreement as a symbol of our willingness to take action it will be crucial to underpin this willingness with targeted actions. It will be interesting to hear and discuss which measures are proposed to foster this goal and we, as your delegation, will do our best to keep you in the loop and well informed about recent developments. Max Behringer Hi Guys! My name is Max Behringer and I am an IFSA member since I began studying forestry. Currently I am in the second year of the Forestry B.Sc. at TU Dresden, Germany. At university, we have strong links to climate and climate change, like the global carbon cycle and the capability of soil to store carbon depending on different types of land use. For me it is very interesting to see this knowledge applied in climate change politics and mitigation plans. Experiencing the UNFCCC conference last year in Bonn was fascinating. Now I am curious about the progress made up to now and looking forward to an exciting week in May. I am very happy to be a part the IFSA delegation in Bonn and I hope that I can give you some interesting insights into the conference in our IFSA blog. Maximilian Schubert Welcome everyone! My name is Maximilian Schubert and I am currently in my forth semester of Forestry at the University of Freiburg. I am part of IFSA since I started and had the pleasure to experience already some conferences, in particular also the COP22 in Marrakech. I will be even more happy to provide first hand information for you, while leading our delegation through the first week of this conference as Head of International Processes. UNFCCC is probably one of the most important frameworks we currently have, which gives us students the tremendous opportunity to see the subsidiary bodies working in real time. We will have a chance to grasp the work processes is a different way and the chance to see how it is to be a part of this incredible conference. The progress made here will have a great impact on the COP 23 in Bonn in November, while being based on the agreements made in Paris and Marrakech.
