International Forestry Students Association delegation to the APCW 2019

As we continue to grow our network and enhance our impact as youth in the academia holding a vision of “a world that appreciates forests’’, we are pleased to share with you the successful presence of our delegation at the Asia-Pacific Climate Week (2-6 September 2019) in the United Nations Conference center, Bangkok, an event organized by the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in partnership with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, the United Nations Environment Programme, the United Nations Environment Programme DTU Partnership, the United Nations Development Programme, the World Bank Group, the Asian Development Bank, and many others.

While maintaining its stand of creating space and access for students of forestry and related disciplines to global policy platforms and processes, IFSA sent four students from three universities to the Asia-Pacific Climate Week 2019, an event that was aimed at boosting the region’s response to the current climate emergency by collecting inputs from the public and private sectors at national and local levels.

Our delegates formed a major part of the youth presence at the event, participating in various sessions and side-events, highlighting the commitment of IFSA to continuously engage and raise the voices of youth in the academia towards Climate action whilst gaining real and realistic insights on climate action at the event.

The 5 day event was organized to support preparations of the UN Secretary-General’s (SG) Climate Action Summit on September 23 in New York and to voice recommendations and support actions from the region.
