Eligibility
In order to be eligible to apply you must
  • be a current member of an IFSA LC
  • be from a low-income country (check the income categories here: https://bit.ly/IncomeCategories)
  • be able to participate for the whole duration of IFSS (16 August to 1 September)
Please note that your travel support application will not be valid without a registration! If you have not yet registered, you can do so here: https://forms.gle/9Yx48GPfwVRRUsEk9. The second round of registrations is open from the 11.04 to 23.04
If you already applied to the development fund for IFSS funding, you can again apply here to increase your chances of getting access to funding.
How does this work in practice?
  1. Once the travel support application form closes (23.04), we will evaluate the applications, choose the recipients and send them an acceptance letter stating that they have also been selected as a recipient of travel support (by end of April).
  2. From receiving the invitation letter, you have two weeks to pay the participation fee (€50).
  3. If we receive your participation fee payment within those two weeks, we will get in touch with you to confirm the travel details.
  4. Once those are confirmed, we will buy the flight tickets (in economy class) for you and deliver them to you by email.
Please note that this travel support is only for travel costs! We still expect you to pay the normal participation fee, and possible visa costs yourself.

Second Registration Round

Second registration period: 11th of April – 23rd of April 2023

The International Forestry Students’ Symposium (IFSS) is the biggest annual IFSA meeting. It’s a platform of knowledge transfer and inspiration that enables the students to experience various forestry practices, exchange their experiences and connect internationally.

In a nutshell, the IFSS is a 16-days event with over 100 forestry students participating. Coordination is being done by the Organizing Committee run by volunteers.

We are hosting the 51st IFSS in Germany from 16th of August to 1st of September 2023 and will provide participants from all over the world with the opportunity to learn about our country and its forests.

The main emphasis lies on the transformation which German forestry is facing at present. This will be embedded within a comprehensive portrayal, including the understanding of the structure of German forestry, history and traditional use, different forest types, dynamics of climate change, as well as mitigation and adaptation strategies. In order to realise this diverse program we will have a roundtrip over two weeks, covering big parts of Germany.

About the registration:

  • This is the first registration round for the event and there will be a second registration round.
  • We encourage everyone to apply. Even if you haven’t been assigned to the priority list by your LC.
  • We remind you that at least one representative from each LC (elected internally) will be selected.
  • Board members have a secured spot and members holding official positions will have priority on future spot distribution.
  • More than one member of the same LC could be accepted if vacancies are still available after the previous conditions have been completed.
  • Alumni also register via this form for the partially separate Alumni tour
Registration Fees:
  • Low-income countries: 50 Euros
  • Middle-income countries: 225 Euros
  • High-income countries: 450 Euros

The registration fee covers the accommodation, food and transportation inside Germany throughout the event.

Income categories for countries can be found here:https://bit.ly/IncomeCategories
