LC Copenhagen At The Northern Europe Regional Meeting (NERM) 2023

IFSA LC Copenhagen’s representative participated in NERM 2023 

We had an amazing opportunity to participate in the Northern Europe Regional Meeting (NERM) as IFSA LC Copenhagen representatives which this year took place in Poland on April 11-16. It was organized by the amazing Warsaw LC team from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (WULS). NERM is an amazing opportunity for IFSA members that are based in Northern Europe to share knowledge and expertise on various forestry topics. It is an interactive event where members socialize, works together, establish new connections, network, run various discussions, share different cultures and simply enjoy each other’s company. 

Participants visited Białowieża National Park

This year’s topic was Modern Forestry = New Problems. In order to showcase modern forestry in Poland, around 40 participants were taken to different places in Poland: Białowieża National Park, European Bison Reserve, Tree beekeeping in Spała, WULS forest experimental station in Rogów and Ostrów Mazowiecka.Furthermore, participants have joined a seminar on Contemporary problems and challenges of forest management in Poland and also showed their presentations on various forest challenges across the Northern European countries in the context of modern forestry. Apart from the educational part of NERM, participants had a chance to learn more about Polish culture at the Polish-themed dinner as well as present the diversity of cultures during the International evening by showcasing traditional food, customs, and folklore.

Overall, the whole experience was very enriching and inspiring, leaving the participants with food for thought. NERM has created an amazing atmosphere for students and young professionals to express themselves, gain new knowledge, and establish long-lasting partnerships and friendships.
