IUFRO Commissioner Open Call

Dear IFSA Family,

Are you interested in international conferences? Do you want to assist IFSA in creating the best possible sessions and activities for its members and the wider audience? 

The IUFRO sub-commission is looking for two motivated individuals who are interested and have time to help prepare for the IUFRO Congress 2024 in Stockholm! 

 

1. Tasks

  • The Commissioners will work specifically in:
  1. The organisation and implementation of the Networking Event, and 
  2. Assisting the fundraising by contacting possible sponsors, donors, and universities

Other tasks might include:

  • Supporting the organisation and implementation of the IFSA Participation Plan for the IUFRO World Congress 2024:
    • Sub-Plenary Session, Technical Session, IUFRO-IFSA JTF Session
    • IFSA Booth
    • Incubator Session
    • Mentorship Programme
  • Assisting the creation and promotion of 3 modules for TreE Learning 
  • Communicating with the Organising Committee and the IUFRO Headquarters
  • Assisting with HoSC tasks

 

The time needed for the position will be around 4-6 hours per week, leading up to the IUFRO World Congress 2024, it can be 2-3 hours per day. 

 

2. Additional Information 

The IUFRO World Congress is one of the largest global forest events and the next one will be hosted by Sweden and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. IFSA has the opportunity to host many sessions and organise activities for the participants. This means that there will be a lot of work leading up to the congress and the tasks will focus on this. This position will give you the opportunity to be involved in one of the largest forestry events and gain new skills through the amazing work we will be doing. 

3. Application procedure 

You must send an email with the subject: “IUFRO Commissioner – Applicant’s name” to iufro.commission@ifsa.net with all of the following documents attached:

  1. A verification from the IFSA website, verifying that you are a member of an LC OR a  verification letter from your Local Committee (LC) signed by the President of your LC.

In case you are the President of your LC, ask the Vice President to sign it. Here you can find a template for the verification letter.

  1. The motivation letter in PDF format (max. 300 words), covering why you want to take this position and how you can contribute to the mentioned tasks.

After the application, the Head of IUFRO Sub-Commission might organise an interview with the applicants. 

4. Requirements 

In order to apply for Commissioner, you MUST comply with these requirements:

  1. You need to be a member of an IFSA Local Committee and either be an active student or have graduated no longer than one year ago.
  2. Proficiency in English, as it is the official language of IFSA and the one that will be used in the Congress
  3. Good internet connection: given the fact that all the work as an Official is done remotely, a good internet connection is crucial to effectively accomplish your tasks.
  4. Access to a computer or tablet.

There is no deadline, it is a rolling open call.
