Introduction

It has been repeated time and again that climate change is the greatest threat that humankind is facing. Large scale deforestation is releasing huge amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere and it is thus considered one important cause of climate change. On the other hand, forests can also play an important part in climate change mitigation and adaptation as they are carbon sinks and storages of utmost importance.

Planting trees has been hailed as an important climate change mitigation strategy but it is not a simple solution. This video delves more into the question of when is planting trees good for the climate and when is it not.

This video takes a look at trees helping us fight climate change focusing on three different perspectives: saving the existing trees, planting new trees and bioengineering more efficiently photosynthesizing trees.
