Commissioner for TreE-Learning

 

Dear IFSA fellows,

Do you sometimes feel that your formal education is lacking soft skills training? Do you want to be part of the change in our forestry education? Are you interested in making a contribution to provide information that is yet to be provided by our current education?

If you answered yes to all the questions, this new opportunity might be for you.

 

What is TreE-Learning?

TreE-Learning is a platform made to respond to the needs of forestry students in filling the gaps left by their formal education, with main contents of soft skills and forestry subject specific. It was established on 28 September 2021 during the IUFRO World Day. The idea behind TreE-Learning is to provide the forestry students with compiled and structured information on the courses related to forestry and soft skills development.

What is a TreE-Learning Commissioner?

The commissioner under Forestry Education Subcommission who will be directly responsible to the technical maintenance of TreE-Learning.

Tasks

  • Assist the Head of Forestry Education Subcommission in the maintenance of TreE-Learning Platform.
  • Convert the videos of webinars conducted by IFSA into course materials in the TreE-Learning platform (which include cutting the videos, putting a video opener/bumper, and uploading the final video in the platform).
  • When necessary, put additional contents in the External Resources section.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Sufficient basic video editing skills.
  • Good competency in English, both in verbal and written.
  • Knowledge on WordPress maintenance is an asset.

Estimated Workload

2-3 hours / week

 

Application Procedure

You must send one email with the subject: “TreE-Learning Commissioner – Applicant’s name” to forestry.education@ifsa.net with all of the following documents attached:

  1. A verification letter from your Local Committee (LC) signed by the President of your LC, verifying that you are a member of the LC in PDF format.

In case you are the President of your LC, ask the Vice President to sign it. The headed letter of your LC must be used for the letter. Here you can find a template for the verification letter.

  1. The motivation letter in PDF format (max 300 words), covering why do you want to take this position and what do you want to achieve in this position.

 

Requirements

In order to apply to an official position you MUST comply with those requirements:

  1. You need to be a member of an IFSA Local Committee and either be an active student or have graduated no longer than one year ago.
  2. Proficiency in English, as it is the official language of IFSA and therefore the only means of communication between Officials.
  3. Good internet connection: given the fact that all the work as a commissioner is done remotely, a good internet connection is crucial to effectively accomplish your tasks.
  4. Access to a Computer or tablet.

 

The deadline for submission is 15 February 2021 (Thursday) 23:59 UTC+0.

Applications that do not follow this procedure (eg. late, incomplete or sent to an email address other than forestry.education@ifsa.net) will not be considered.

 

In case of technical issues with the submission of the application, please send an email to forestry.education@ifsa.net specifying the problem that you are encountering.

Both successful and unsuccessful applications will receive an answer within 10 days after the deadline. In this timeframe, candidates can be contacted for an online interview.
