Dear IFSA World,

The IFSA Development Fund is an internal fund gathered during Regional Meetings and other IFSA led events though fundraising activities. The fund is raised by members for other members within the IFSA Family.

For this open call we are offering support up to 70% of all transport, accommodation and participant fee costs to a maximum of €800.

Both Individuals and Local Committees (LCs) are invited to apply. The IFSA Development Fund serves to support students by funding:

  • IFSA LC led projects and events
  • Attending international events (for example IFSA partner event)
  • Attending IFSA led events (Such as Regional Meetings or the International Forestry Student Symposium)
  • Attending other forestry-related activities or events that are relevant to IFSA’s overall goals.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply you must meet the following criteria.

Individuals:

  • Must be from a low income country. For more information about the income classification of your country according to IFSA please follow this Link
  • Must be attending any of the following: an IFSA partner event, an IFSA led event or, another international forestry-related activity or event.
  • Submit all necessary documentation including a letter of invitation to the event to be attended in PDF format as one single application (see list below)
  • Will have to pay all costs upfront (IFSA works on a reimbursement ONLY basis)
  • Application must be written in English.

Local Committees:

  • Must be from a low income country. For more information about the income classification of your country according to IFSA please follow this Link
  • Must be creating and leading a project or event open to all IFSA LC’s to join.
  • Project or event must align with IFSA’s goals and objectives.
  • Submit all necessary documentation in PDF format as one single application (see list below)
  • Will have to pay all costs upfront (IFSA works on a reimbursement ONLY basis)
  • Application must be written in English.

How to Apply:

If you think you are, or your project is eligible, please send your application to council@ifsa.net before 15th of April 23:59 CET. An application will not be reviewed until all requested documents have been received. For details on what to include in your application package, please see below.

The recipients will be chosen by the IFSA Council and informed no later than one week after this date.

Application Guideline:

Your application will be assessed upon its contribution to IFSA’s overall purpose and strategy and your motivation.

Please include the following information (both for individual applicants and LCs):
Section 1- Applicant information:

-Contact details of applying individual or LC
-IFSA Local Committee Name (In full- not the abbreviation)
-Full Postal address
-Email address
-Phone Contact

Section 2 (for individuals) – Project or event description:

– Project/Activity description – please include the title, date(s), organizing party (who is running the event), rough itinerary/program, description of what the event is about. (300 words),
– Aim – please include what you wish to achieve from going to the event (why is this important), how will this benefit you (400 words),

– Output – please include how you will share what you learn with the rest of IFSA and your LC.

– Further details (200 words),

– Do you have other sponsors – please include who they are and how much they are sponsoring you (100 words).

Section 2 (for LCs) – Project or event description:

  • Project/Activity description – please include the title, date(s), organizing parties (who is running the event and helping you), rough itinerary/program or duration of the event/project, description of what the event is about. (300 words).
  • Aim – please include what you wish to achieve from running this project/event (why is this important), how will this benefit those who attend and your LC (400 words),
  • Output – please include how you will share what you do and learn with the rest of IFSA and your LC,
  • Further details (200 words),
  • Number and background of proposed attendees (100 words),
  • Do you have other sponsors/partners – please include who they are and how much they are sponsoring you (100 words).

Section 3 – Supporting Materials

  • A signed reference or letter of endorsement regarding your proposal from a member of the university staff.
  • If possible, any other supporting material (ex. Conference brochures, posters)
  • Proposed Budget
  • Detailed listing of all costs for the activity or project (ex. Travel costs, materials)
  • List of any other contributing organizations/ sponsors and the amount of their contribution where necessary
  • Letter of motivation (500 words Max)

Conditions:

In exchange, recipients MUST create and submit a report of the project/activity and produce a piece (article, blog, and interactive presentation) for IFSA Communication.
As part of your application please state what form this piece for The IFSA Communication commission would take and how this will positively impact IFSA members.
The report and a piece for the IFSA Communication Commission must be submitted no more than a month after the event or project has taken place.
