Open Call for participants to the UN-Water Conference 2023 Virtual Side Event

Title of the Side Event: Youth Water Action – Conservation of Coastal Ecosystem in Southeast Asia

Thematic focus: Youth in Water Action for Climate, Resilience, and Environment

Event Details
Coastal Ecosystem is the convergence of terrestrial and marine ecosystems. The coastal ecosystem is not only a hub of rich biodiversity but also a lifeline for the local community. This ecosystem works as a lifeline and livelihood resource for the local community. The destruction and deterioration of the coastal ecosystem act as a shield against disasters like cyclones, tsunamis, etc. The risk of disaster affects the local communities – the source of food, shelter to stay, and source of clean water.

The session is a youth-led side event that has taken the step to act towards water action to reach the 2030 Water Agenda. The application of indigenous knowledge and its impact on the protection of coastal ecosystems by youth-led action for a sustainable future is the main focus of this session. Projects taken up by the youth, and implementation of the project through monitoring and acting towards water positivity will be given a stage in this side event to inspire more young generations to act on water conservation.
