Open Call for Delegates –
IUFRO World Congress June 2024

1.1 Introduction
The International Forestry Students’ Association (IFSA) is currently organizing a highly impactful participation of young people and forestry students at the upcoming IUFRO World Congress 2024, which is one of the largest global forest events held every five years since 1893, and this year’s theme is “Forests & Society Towards 2024”.
The congress represents a forum for worldwide leading scientists and stakeholders to co-create, contribute, discuss technical and societal issues of forest-related research, policy-making and management.
The IUFRO WC 2024 is giving a great opportunity for knowledge sharing and getting access to the latest science and research. The outcome of the event will also take the opportunity to build the future together with global expertise in forestry and climate in connection to societal development towards 2050.
For this event we are looking for 5 delegates from all around the world.
1.2 Application procedure
You must submit the following form here, please prepare beforehand with all of the following documents attached:
1. A verification from the IFSA website, verifying that you are a member of an LC OR a verification letter from your Local Committee (LC) signed by the President of your LC.
In case you are the President of your LC, ask the Vice President to sign it. Here you can find a template for the registration letter.
2. An introduction video (max. 3 minutes), introducing yourself and covering why you want to be part of this delegation and how you can contribute to the implementation of the IUFRO24 IFSA Participation Plan.
After the application, the Head of IUFRO Sub-Commission together with the Board will evaluate the applications and in case needed will schedule an interview with the applicants.
- Personal motivation through the answer of 3 short questions (100-200 words). These questions are going to be in the google forms, please register yourself for the delegation sitting down and with a device that will allow you to answer the questions correctly.
1.3 Requirements
In order to apply as a IUFRO WC delegate, you MUST comply with these requirements:

You need to be a member of an IFSA Local Committee and either be an active student or have graduated no longer than one year ago.

If selected as a delegate for IUFRO WC, you will accept to take an active role in the work of the organization of the IFSA engagement.

Proficiency in English, as it is the language that will be used in writing proposals and concept notes, as well as communication.

Good internet connection: given the fact that you will be part of the organizing team and all the work is done remotely, a good internet connection is crucial to effectively accomplish your tasks.

Access to a computer or tablet, as we will be writing concept notes and proposals.

- Have in mind that IFSA won’t provide any funding for travel but the congress registration fee (450 euros) is covered for IFSA delegates.
