In a transformative two-day event, the Sustainable Sikles project, a joint effort by IFSA Pokhara and Climates Nepal, recently concluded, leaving a lasting impact on the community of Mardi Municipality Ward No. 1 in Sikles. The initiative, held on December 12 and 13, aimed to address the urgent issues of climate change and promote ecotourism in a region vulnerable to Nepal’s environmental challenges.

The success of this endeavor owes much to the generous support and collaboration from key stakeholders, including the ACAP research officer, Mardi Rural Municipality, Annapurna Secondary School, and Parche Aama Samuha.

Nepal’s vulnerability to climate change provided the backdrop for the Sustainable Sikles project. With a mission to raise awareness, engage communities, and promote sustainable practices using local resources, the project aimed to tackle the immediate and long-term challenges faced by the region.

Day Two

The concluding day featured activities at ACAP, where collaboration and sustainability took tangible form through the installation of locally crafted bamboo baskets. Symbolizing unity and resilience, the inauguration ceremony, attended by esteemed guests, marked a significant step towards community involvement in climate change mitigation.

A speech competition among students on ‘Climate Change in Sikles and Its Livelihood Challenges’ not only showcased awareness levels but also led to the formation of the Eco Club, named Green Force. This club is aimed at instilling a passion for nature conservation among students.
