World Rainforest Day: Open Call for Virtual Planet Walks

On June 22, 2025, the world will come together to celebrate, protect, and honor our planet’s most vital ecosystems through World Rainforest Day—a global movement founded by Rainforest Partnership and carried forward by thousands of partners, leaders, and changemakers around the globe.

This year’s theme, #BreatheWithUs, is more than a message—it’s an invitation. A call to reflect, to reconnect with nature, and to take visible action for the future of our forests.

IFSA is working with our Rainforest Partnership to celebrate world rainforest day and you can contribute! Wherever in the world you are you can contribute to the movement by taking and posting your planet walk! You do not have to walk in the rainforest but walk somewhere in nature that grounds you and you would love to share with the world.

RAINFOREST WALK PARTICIPATION

  1. Film a Forest Walk and share with your community
Create a short walk (3–15 minutes) in a forest, park, or natural space meaningful to your team or mission. Narrate it if you wish—and share it with your audience to inspire others. You can use the sounds of nature around you as the backdrop of your video or the sounds of your choosing, granted you have the necessary permissions.

Our headline videos will be pre-recorded and posted on World Rainforest Day with short previews leading up to June 22nd, our primary day of engagement.
  2. Share the Livestream on June 22, presented by Rainforest Partnership and Rainforest Connection
Help spread the movement by promoting or co-hosting the livestream across your channels.
  3. Host a Watch Party or In-Person Event
Bring your network together to experience the livestream, take a group walk, or host a moment of reflection in nature.
  4. Reflect & Post
Pause. Step outside. Share a message, a breath, or a moment of presence with #BreatheWithUs

How to film your walk and share it with the world

On June 22, people around the world will walk with forests. Whether you’re in the Amazon or a city park, this is your invitation to reflect, move with intention, and share how you connect with the natural world.

Your video doesn’t need to be polished. It just needs to be present.

1. CHOOSE YOUR PATH

Pick a natural space that grounds you.
It could be a forest trail, a neighborhood sidewalk, a schoolyard, or a small patch of green near home.

Think about what you want to share—or simply let the camera follow your walk.
Stillness and silence are welcome. So is wonder, gratitude, and truth.

2. FILM YOUR WALK

There’s no time limit.
Consider sharing:

  • A short version (15–30 seconds) for Reels or Stories
  • A longer version for reflection, storytelling, or immersion

Filming Tips:

  • Shoot in vertical (portrait)—ideal for phone viewing and sharing on social media
  • Use a first-person point of view—point the camera forward, as if the viewer is walking beside you
  • Hold your phone steady and walk calmly
  • Avoid wind or loud background noise
  • Let nature lead—don’t force the moment

Whether you walk alone or with others, this is about being present.
How you walk is the message.

3. POST YOUR VIDEO

We encourage you to post your video directly to your own channels.
