Youth Networking Session at the Peatland Pavilion at UNFCCC COP26

IFSA has the privilege to organize the Youth Networking Session at the Peatland Pavilion for UNFCCC COP26 together with GPI, RE-PEAT, YEW, and IAAS! This session will be held hybrid and virtual.

The events will be held on Tuesday, 9 November 2021 and Thursday, 11 November 2021

The United Nations Environment Programme, Wetlands International, International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), UK Peatland Programme, Greifswald Mire Centre, University of East London, Scotland’s Rural College and other Global Peatlands Initiative partners and collaborators will host a Peatlands Pavilion at the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP26), which will take place from 1-12th November 2021, in Glasgow, Scotland.

The participants will be invited to a networking session as an opportunity for different perspectives and stories to be shared, especially between those new to the topic and those who have been engaged for a while. It will be a chance to collectively recognise the state of peatlands today, while looking at how strong collaboration can be made between youth activists and the wider peatland network. We are in contact with many young people from many parts of the world who are engaged in this topic.

The events divide into two parts:

Intergenerational Networking Session Focused on Peatland Action(Virtual)

20:00-22:00 Tuesday the 9th of November, 2021 (Glasgow Time)

Peatlands for the Present and Future: A Youth Call for Action (Hybrid)

13:30-15:00 Thursday the 11th of November, 2021 from 13:30 to 15:00 (Glasgow Time)
