Following the sequence of events, there is a meeting of African Forestry and Wildlife Commission, in its 22nd session!
In this occassion, the Regional Africa Office for FAO (FAO-RAF) together with the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) – Government of the Republic of South Africa invite IFSA members to join this event as observers to learn and give a voice to youth in this region.
This Commission, which meets every two years, is one of six Regional Forestry Commissions established by FAO to provide a policy and technical forum for countries to discuss and address forest issues on a regional basis.

As observer during the event, the International Forestry Students’ Association (IFSA) will send a delegation of its members to give support and empowerment to forestry student in the region, encouraging them to participate and raise their voice for the contribution of solving the prominent issues in the region. Most importantly IFSA will hold a one day pre-commission Youth workshop dubbed Young African Foresters Summit – YAFS on the 17th-November-2019 as a preparation to the commission; the YAFS will focus on discussing prospects and opportunities in forestry and Forest Education in Africa. Together with other side-sessions IFSA is organizing during the commission, we are looking forward to your meaningful engagement at the AFWC.

Once again, this is going to be a great opportunity and unique experience for interaction with professionals from different fields since FAO encourages wide participation of government officials from forestry and other sectors as well as representatives of international, regional and subregional organizations that deal with forest-related issues in the region, including NGOs, and the private sector.
