The EFI-IFSA-IUFRO project team is looking for highly motivated individuals, with a passion for forest employment and education in their home country and beyond.

On the 18th and 19th of November 2019 the project team will host an expert workshop at the EFI office in Bonn. Experts on forest sector employment, green jobs and forest education will be invited together with senior and junior experts from 6 selected focus countries.
The 6 focus countries are:

  • Brazil
  • Finland
  • Germany
  • Indonesia
  • South Africa
  • United States of America.

One junior and one senior expert from each country will form an expert tandem. During the workshop short presentation on the state of forest employment will be given by the senior experts while the junior experts will provide an overview of higher education in forestry in their respective countries.

Interactive discussions among all workshop participants will work towards the following workshop aims:

  • Eliciting overall trends in forest sector employment in different world regions and focus countries
  • Identifying main changes in employment
  • Gaining insights into forest sector employment, including green jobs and identify employment trends

Following the 2-day workshop the junior experts will remain in Bonn for 3 more days. Together with the project staff they will carry out further research into emerging employment trends in their countries and enjoy excursions in Bonn and the surrounding forests.

We are looking for one junior expert from each of the above mentioned countries that want to join us in Bonn from the 18th-22nd (plus arrival and departure days).
If you are a student or young professional [IFSA membership is an asset] from one of the focus countries and you would like to have the opportunity to attend a 2-day workshop with leading experts in forest sector employment and education, spend a week in Bonn assisting in data collection and seeing what the former capital of Germany has to offer apply as a Junior Expert HERE.
You also get to spent time with IFSAs newly elected Vice-President Damiano Cilio, who is starting his traineeship with the project at EFI Bonn in mid September.

IMPORTANT:
This will be a rolling application. This means that applications, after the 15th of September, will be considered as they are received and if we receive an application that we consider to be best fit, we will be appointing that person. It is in your interest to apply as soon as possible.
Final deadline for applications is Sunday 22th of September 2018, 23:59PM CEST.
